Indoor Environment Quality Laboratory

Responsible for the Laboratory: Prof. Dr. Kalmár Ferenc - full professor, GTIDEA Professor

Location:DE Faculty of Engineering (U.2.04)

Description of the laboratory:

The laboratory is primarily suitable for internal environmental studies. A measuring room in a climatic chamber is available for measurements of thermal comfort and indoor air. The "adiabatic" chamber is constructed of self-supporting sandwich panels filled with polyurethane foam. The laboratory can also be used for building energy measurements, as the heat input to the test chamber can be measured per heating/cooling circuit. A variety of conventional LVRs are available, and a branch can be used to test local ventilation systems.

Laboratory equipment:

  • TESTO 435: relative humidity, air speed;
  • TESTO 480: turbulence degree, CO2 concentration, PMV meter;
  • KIMO AMI 300, K75: air flow rate meter;
  • TESTO 815: noise level meter;
  • TESTO 540: illuminance meter;
  • TESTO 881 thermal camera.

Research and development areas:

  • Research: thermal comfort tests, indoor air quality tests, discomfort factor tests, building energy measurements.
  • Potential partners and clients: companies manufacturing heat exchangers, companies manufacturing air blowers, companies manufacturing local ventilation and cooling/heating equipment.
